Finding out what makes certain people commit suicide and others not, could provide new tools for screening patients and providing help before it is too late

Researchers are trying to find out why so few of the people who feel suicidal actually go through with killing themselves.

As someone who feels suicidal regularly, I would like to know what mechanism is stopping me from carrying the act out. Whatever it is, I am grateful for each and every day it extends my life. I want to be around for a few years yet.
