Wikipedia from SvdmolenThrough my volunteer work, I developed a passion for lepidoptery.

Butterflies and moths are fascinating, beautiful and a major indicator of the health of the land. I love to catch and ID them – it allows me to “go wild” and enjoy “the thrill of the hunt” without the need to bring harm to anyone.

Today was the first day where my free time coincided with decent butterfly weather, so I pulled on my wellies and hiked to my survey site.

The field was white with butterflies – Orange Tips and Green Veins. It was magical! There were a few brown species, but I am a bit out of practice with wielding by net so they evaded me!

I look forward to a busy butterfly season!
